Short stop
30 minNeck, shoulders and upper back, or legs and feet: one area, for a day with little time to spare.
Day spa in Hendersonville, North Carolina
Massage, facials, a cedar sauna and a terrace soak, a short walk from Main Street. Come for an hour or stay the afternoon. We lay out the whole day before you book it.

From the front door to the drive home: how long each part takes, what to wear and where you will wait.
Park on North Main or in the lot behind the building. Nari checks you in, and you wait in the sun room with tea until your therapist comes to find you.
A robe, towel and sandals are waiting in your locker, so wear whatever suits the drive. Bring a swimsuit only if you have added the sauna or the soak.
Your therapist asks about pressure and anything to avoid before you begin. During a massage you are covered by a sheet, and you can ask to change anything or stop at any time.
Tea and water in the sun room, the terrace if the weather is kind, and no one hurrying you out. Nari books your next visit before you go, if you like.
Sauna and terrace soak
A cedar sauna and a wooden tub on the terrace, booked as an add-on to a treatment or on their own. Many guests find heat relaxing after a day outdoors.
Guests 18 and over. Wear a swimsuit in the sauna and the tub; we give you a robe, towel and sandals for the walk between. If you are pregnant or have been told to take care with heat, ask your doctor before you book.

The team
Four people, and Nari at the front desk is the one you will probably meet first.

Owner
Tonia grew up in the foothills and opened Balsam so a mountain town would have a place to slow down. She plans the busy weekends, and she is the person to call about a group.

Esthetician
Mirian begins every facial with a look at your skin and a talk about what you use at home. She works with mature and sensitive skin, and she speaks Spanish and English.

Massage therapist
Carroll works with slow, steady pressure and a lot of patience for stiff shoulders after a long drive or a long hike. He looks after the sauna and the terrace soak, and he leads the hot stone visits.

Front desk
Nari answers the phone, holds your time and walks you through a first visit. Ask her which weekends in the leaf season are filling up.
Hours
North Main Street in Hendersonville, with parking on the street and behind the building.
Hours shift with the seasons: in October, during the leaf weeks, we open on Mondays too, and from January through March we open at 10 a.m. On weekdays call ahead and we will fit you in if a room is open.
Twenty minutes before your time on a first visit. That gives you room to park, check in, change and sit with tea. If you arrive late we shorten the treatment so the next guest isn't kept waiting.
Whatever is comfortable for the drive. We give you a robe, towel, sandals and a locker. Bring a swimsuit if you have added the sauna or the terrace soak.
Yes. Groups of three or more book by phone so we can line up therapists and rooms. Call the front desk and ask for Tonia or Nari.
Please ask your doctor first. The policies page says who should ask before any heat, and Nari can help you choose a treatment that doesn't use it.
A gift card works for any amount and for any service, and whoever receives it books like any guest.
Most visits are booked ahead, especially on weekends. On weekdays, call and we will fit you in if a room is open.
